Glenn Beck has recently made predictions that we are headed into a period of hyper inflation brought about by the FED printing six billion dollars in new money to buy up six billion dollars worth of our own US Debt. Beck's predictions have the backing of the Wall Street Journal and the National Inflation Association.

Below there is a "supermarket snapshot" of the 11/06/10 food prices in Shop Rite of East Orange, which is a supermarket in our area with consistently low prices. You can use it to find out if Beck's prediction is coming true by checking back here from time to time. You should also make your own collection of price snapshots. Instead of tossing out the weekly supermarket circulars, every once in a while, save one and put it in your price history scrapbook for comparison.

Keep in mind that inflation has already begun, but it has been disguised by clever packaging. You can no longer buy coffee by the pound- more likely it will be 10 to 12 oz, rather than 16 oz. The quick check list at the top of the page attempts to focus on standard foods that don't have clever packaging to disguise the increasing prices. I will focus in on finding equivalents of just those items in future "supermarket snapshots" so they can be compared more easily.

Fact or Fiction? You decide.
