Passing of One of East Orange Clergy
Association Pioneers
Rev. Dr. Arthur S. Jones
(August 8, 1923 - August 17, 2010)
With regret we announce the passing of the Reverend Dr.
Arthur Samuel Jones, Retired Pastor in the African Methodist
Episcopal Church, on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. He is survived by
his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Erma K. Jones and sons, Arthur and
Joseph Jones. Rev. Dr. Jones' ministry as a pastor spanned over
50 years. He was living in Richmond, VA at the time of his death.
He was a former pastor of St. Marks A.M.E.Church, 587 Springdale
Avenue, East Orange, NJ, and one of the orginal co-founders of
the modern day East Orange Clergy Association.
He is survived by his wife, Erma Jones; two sons, Arthur L. and
Joseph Jones; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a
host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one sister-in-law, Eula
Thomas; and other relatives and friends.
