East Orange Historic Church Tour

The Historical Society of East Orange, Inc. sponsored an
Historical Tour of three East Orange Churches on Saturday, April
12th, 2008.
The Tour began at Mount Olive Baptist Church on Ashland Ave.
The church was founded in 1898.
Next, the tour group traveled to Peaceful Zion Baptist Church
on Rhode Island Avenue. This church was founded in 1944.
The final destination was St. Paul's AME on Old Sanford
Street. This church provided us with a very thorough history
dating back to 1863. You can read more of

This 1905 postcard photo, taken before the 1926 fire, shows the
view looking south along Sanford Street.
