Earlier this year, the Historical Society of East Orange, Inc. presented its Certificate of Recognition to John E. McNally in recognition of his having operated an East Orange business for 30+ years at the same site in East Orange.

Mr. McNally is the owner/manager/operator of the Jo’Dene Beauty Salon, Inc. on Sanford Street, in East Orange. The award was presented to Mr. McNally at his Salon by Mrs. Goldie. T. Burbage, president of the Historical Society of East Orange, Inc.

On Friday, October 17, 2008, at 7:00 PM, the Historical Society will hold its annual Awards Night at Cicely Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts, 161 Elmwood Avenue, East Orange, NJ. Awards will be presented to businesses and individuals who have contributed significantly to our comunity for many years.

The 2008 recipients have already been chosen, but this is an annual event and it is not too late to begin thinking ahead to 2009.

If anyone knows of any recognized business that has been operating in East Orange continually for 30 or more years, please submit the name of the business or the proprietor to the Historical Society at P.O. Box 1024, East Orange, NJ 07019 to have them considered for this prestigious award in 2009.
